HERricane Los Angeles

The City of Los Angeles Emergency Management Department (EMD) is excited to announce that we have partnered with the Institute for Diversity and Inclusion (I-DIEM). to facilitate a week-long camp for participants between the ages of 15-25 years old. HERricane LA is a week-long camp that brings together 45 young women from under-represented communities across Los Angeles and affords them the opportunity to learn from a diverse group of City leaders including our first responders, policy makers, and emergency managers across Departments and culminates in a Functional Exercise on the last day of camp.

The program will cover different topics including Leadership Day, Career Day, and EOC Day.  HERricane LA equips program participants with the disaster preparedness and leadership skills to pave the way for their personal and professional goals to ensure success in their careers.

EMD is proud to host this program at our Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

Monday, August 1 to Friday, August 5, 2022

***Current LA city guidelines and the most recent city health mandate requires masking at all indoor facilities and requires the city to check proof of vaccination as a condition of entry. Although the LA County Department of Public Health now allows businesses to remove indoor mask mandates and modify their proof of vaccination status requirements based on their business needs, the city’s health order does not yet conform to that guidance and the current requirements remain unchanged.

As a city of Los Angeles facility, the Emergency Management Department’s rules and regulations for indoor mask mandates and proof of vaccination must conform to the city’s health orders which currently requires all individuals be masked while indoors at city and which requires proof of vaccination as a condition of entry.

WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS. Thank you to all of our applicants!
