In a disaster, there are never too many ways to receive a possibly life-saving alert. That’s why the City of Los Angeels will use multiple ways to reach you if there is a threat to your life or property.

How Will You Receive an Alert? 

There are a variety of ways that the City of Los Angeles can reach you during an emergency. Residents are encouraged to sign up for all alert platforms relevant to where they live, work, and spend time in Los Angeles. Residents can provide multiple points of contacts, multiple addresses for alerts, and set language preferences by registering for the alert systems offered by the City of Los Angeles. 

 


Sign Up for Alerts

The City of Los Angeles strongly recommends subscribing to the following systems:

NotifyLA – Create a managed account to receive urgent notifications about local emergencies by phone and/or text messag. Powered by Everbridge.
Log in to manage your settings – Learn more about NotifyLA

Nixle – Text your zip code to 888777 to opt-in or sign up online to receive email, text or voice messages with alerts and advisories from local law enforcement.
Sign in to modify your location or settings. List of local agencies using Nixle.

 


Alerts that Do Not Require Subscriptions

The federal government allows the City of Los Angeles and County of Los Angeles to use two federal systems during emergencies. These systems do not require sign-up or registration. 

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) Evacuation orders and other important messages will be sent to compatible mobile devices based on your current location.

 

 

Emergency Alert System (EAS) Alerts will interrupts local radio broadcasts and Comcast television programming in the event of a large-scale emergency.
